Chime offers literally and truly 100 % free in-app tax filing

Chime , a popular banking app , has announced that members can now file taxes for free directly from the Chime app to simplify tax season . Following a successful pilot programme in 2024 , this new in-app feature is available for all new and existing Chime members and offers a truly streamlined e-filing experience with no unexpected paywalls and no filing fees . Members can file their federal and state taxes directly through the Chime app , saving time and money .

“ Americans are frustrated by the tax filing industry , which is notorious for high fees and deceptive marketing . They ’ re tired of bait-and-switch services that seem free but ultimately charge users a fee to get their refunds ,” said Chime ’ s Chief Product Officer , Madhu Muthukumar . “ Getting your money back from the government shouldn ’ t cost you money . By providing completely free in-app tax filing , we ’ re empowering Americans to unlock their financial progress confidently , making tax season easier and more rewarding .”
This feature comes as the average cost of filing a basic federal 1040 tax return was US $ 150 for non-business taxpayers in 2023 . According to the Tax Foundation , total tax compliance costs – including fees , lost productivity , and out-of-pocket expenses – are estimated to cost American taxpayers over US $ 546 billion annually , representing 1.9 % of the US GDP .
Revolut introduces In-App calls to help customers expose phone call scams

Revolut , a leading FinTech with more than 50 million customers globally has announced the roll-out of In-App calls to personal customers , a new security measure to help customers uncover impersonation scams and make contact between customer support and customers more reliable and safer .

Impersonation scams are when someone pretends to be a bank , an authority or a trusted person and convinces their victim to send them money or share sensitive details , compromising the safety of their money . The number of impersonation scams affecting Revolut customers who are now at their lowest level in nearly two years , even as the company ’ s customer base has grown by tens of millions of people . Despite this , the emotional and financial impact to those still affected can be devastating and so the company has been testing and developing In-App calls for a number of months , creating an appnative feature that criminals can ’ t replicate .
It offers a secure method to speak to Revolut Customer Support , a call directly through the Revolut app .
The company wants to make personal customers aware that the vast majority of calls being made from Revolut Customer Support to customers will be conducted in-app . In-app calls will also be coming to Revolut Business customers soon .
